Installing NetBeans on a system with Beryl/Compiz enabled
If you are interested in installing NetBeans 5.5 IDE onto a machine running a linux distro with eye candy enabled e.g. Beryl or Compiz, check out this blog to get it working correctly:

Without nesting an Xserver running a different WM (icewm), the IDE just loads with a blank white screen. There is even a short shell script you can copy to have everything done for you with one command.
